Four Rivers Merger

For years, many of you have asked about closer regional alignment between SABOR and the Four Rivers Association of REALTORS®.

The Boards of Directors for both SABOR and Four Rivers have formally approved and signed a strategic merger agreement to unify our associations, pending member approval and National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) ratification.

This milestone follows thoughtful discussion, evaluation and strategic planning by leadership from both organizations. We believe this proposed merger represents a strong opportunity to enhance member value, expand our regional footprint and strengthen the REALTOR® voice across Central and South Texas.

Members of SABOR and Four Rivers have officially voted to proceed with the proposed merger.
This vote is an important milestone but not the final step.

What Happens Next

With approval now received from both associations’ memberships, the process will move into the next phase of due diligence and finalization, including the review of financials, tax documentation, legal requirements and operational planning necessary to complete the merger.

Our leadership teams and staff will continue working closely together throughout this process to ensure a smooth transition and to keep members informed every step of the way. Should the merger move forward following completion of all remaining requirements and approvals, members will receive detailed communication well in advance of any changes.

This merger is between the associations. The data share agreements with HAR and ABOR are specifically tied to MLS. Those agreements are to allow data to be viewed in those markets with some limitations to that access (listing attachments for example). This association merger is being designed specifically for our market and members. A larger regional association footprint allows for more efficiency, more widely used member benefits and importantly a stronger advocacy voice.

Questions about MLS systems, platforms, tools and timing

It’s important to clarify that this is an association merger discussion first.
If the merger is approved, MLS integration would be a separate and longer process, and no final decisions have been made regarding platforms, systems, or final timelines at this stage. We are working with CTXMLS to ensure members see no impact on their daily business while we transition and when we do make the transition, we are committed to adding data access, and market reach. Working slow and steady toward the full consolidation ensuring member transparency along the way is the goal.
While we can’t speak to an exact timeline due to the complexity of the merger (it’s a coordinated and strategic effort between 2 associations and 2 MLSs), we can say that the objective is to combine data, extend market access and give member/subscribers more choices in what platforms they use to access the data.
