SABOR Supports Propositions A & B: Investing in San Antonio’s Future

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Sept. 30, 2025)The San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) proudly announces its support of Propositions A and B, which will appear on the upcoming Bexar County ballot. These measures represent a vital opportunity to invest in San Antonio’s growth, economy and real estate market.

The decision to support these propositions was proposed and approved by SABOR’s Government Affairs Committee and subsequently voted on and adopted by the association’s Board of Directors—demonstrating a unified commitment to initiatives that strengthen our city’s future.

What the Propositions Do

Proposition A authorizes an increase in the Hotel Occupancy Tax from 1.75% to 2% and an increase in the rental car fee. The revenue generated—paid primarily by visitors—would fund approximately $191.8 million in upgrades and expansions to East Side county facilities, including the Freeman Coliseum, the Frost Bank Center and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Grounds.

Proposition B allows the County to use up to $311 million in additional visitor-generated revenue to help fund a new downtown arena for the San Antonio Spurs.

Why It Matters for Real Estate

As REALTORS®, we recognize the economic ripple effects that strategic investments in local infrastructure and entertainment create. The proposed developments:

  • Strengthen the regional economy by enhancing San Antonio’s tourism and entertainment appeal. A more vibrant city attracts new residents, businesses and investors.
  • Elevate property values through increased foot traffic, business activity and revitalization of key areas—particularly downtown and the East Side.
  • Drive demand for commercial and residential properties by creating more jobs, entertainment options and long-term infrastructure improvements.
  • Enhance San Antonio’s national profile, making the city a more desirable place to live, work and invest.

With these improvements funded primarily by out-of-town visitors, the propositions offer a high-impact, low-cost way to build San Antonio’s future.

Key Voting Dates

Early Voting begins October 20 and ends October 31.  Election Day is November 4, 2025.

Vote YES on Propositions A & B

SABOR encourages all Bexar County voters to support Propositions A and B. These initiatives are good for business, good for our communities and good for the future of San Antonio real estate.

Let’s work together to shape a thriving, dynamic San Antonio for generations to come.
